What do I need before I call?
A full name, and the jail or county if you know it. If you aren't sure which county, say the city where the arrest happened and an agent can work it out.
Can this be handled without coming in?
Often, yes. Many bonds are handled start to finish by phone and online. The agent will tell you what, if anything, has to happen in person.
What does a co-signer take on?
It is the responsibility of the co-signer to see that the bail premium is paid and the defendant appears in court. In case of a forfeiture and summary judgment, the co-signer must pay the full penal amount of the bail. Co-signer responsibilities covers how long that lasts, what happens if a court date is missed, and how it ends.
